I'm not sure about you, but I know that every year we are talking about whether "Phil" the Groundhog is going to see his shadow or not. Is there a festivity in your town focusing on this? Do you know the name of your town's groundhog. They aren't all named "Phil" but the most popular one seems to be.
It's certainly not a French holiday or special event but it certainly is something that is on many people's minds. This year, on Feb. 2. I will be anxious to see if our groundhog sees his shadow or not. Will there be 6 more weeks of winter? (I personally hope not)
Will you be doing activities with your students about "Jour de la marmotte"? Here are some fun activities that will surely keep your students focussed. They are great for individual activities, or in pairs. Set them up as station work activities as a change of pace in your room. Or leave them for a substitute teacher as they are all easy to implement! Here's what my Jour de la marmotte resource includes:
If you start with the reading activity all of the other activities will easily fall into place. I've included answer keys too so that if you choose to collect the work as part of your curriculum OR if you are going over the answers together, you will have the answer key ready to go.
